Community Charging is a non-profit organization focused on supporting equity in the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem by building affordable, accessible and community-based charging options for Chicago neighborhoods. We leverage existing infrastructure, community hosts, and the sharing economy to build affordable level 2 smart EV charging infrastructure in Chicago neighborhoods, especially those considered "charging deserts". We committed to promoting awareness and supporting education around electric vehicles and transportation electrification.

Charge Your Community
We want to build community chargers at local neighborhood commercial sites by leveraging existing infrastructure and a sharing economy model. Our goal is to help build smart charging infrastructure that can support commercial hosts' visitors, fleets, and neighbors! Hosting a community charger is a great way to showcase your business and promote your interest in supporting clean transportation and equity in electrification. We seek out neighborhood sites like small businesses, churches, community centers, etc. to host community chargers to "charge their community". Our hosts spread awareness of the benefits of electric vehicles and provide affordable clean transportation infrastructure to their Chicago communities.

We want to connect residents to community chargers and support Chicagoans in understanding the benefits of EVs. We support community-based strategies for increasing EV infrastructure and EV adoption and want to direct communities to local Chicagoland resources. Thinking of getting an EV but live in an apartment and don't know where to charge? Talk to us! Want to test drive, talk to a Chicagoan with an EV, or learn more about EV ride share? Give us a ring! Want us to talk with your landlord about EV infrastructure? We can help!

Build Make-Ready!
At Community Charging, we are dedicated to addressing the issue of charging deserts by leveraging existing infrastructure and site hosts. We also support New Construction projects in building make-ready EV charging infrastructure to help Chicago tackle its need for EV charging infrastructure. Here at Community Charging, we are determined to make an impact at the neighborhood level! The core of our efforts are to bring affordable and easily accessible EV charging options to Chicago neighborhoods. We want to leverage existing infrastructure and the Chicago community spirit to fill in charging deserts and promote education and adoption of electric vehicles, awareness of air quality and equity issues in transportation, and support urban climate change resilience.
